About This Build

The aesthetic choices on BDR1932 lean toward modern performance rather than period-correct. The triple-element stripe layers black, Liquid Silver, and Race Red rather than the more common single-color treatment. The cockpit substitutes a carbon fiber dashboard and SABELT cam-lock harnesses for the typical analog dash and lap belt of a 1960s tribute, and the red-faced Auto Meter gauges and suede SABELT steering wheel continue that direction. The mechanical configuration is conventional for the RT4B: a Ford big-block in 427 cubic inch displacement, a Tremec five-speed, ceramic-coated headers, and the BMW-sourced suspension Backdraft uses as standard.

Documentation on BDR1932 beyond the build configuration above is limited. No sale history, title jurisdiction, current owner, or odometer reading is recorded in the source material at the time of this article. Additional provenance is not yet on Cobra Authority and will be added if and when it surfaces.

About Backdraft Racing

Backdraft Racing was founded in January 2001 by Tony Marten and Reg Dodd, both world champion auto racers, and has built turn-key-minus-drivetrain Cobra tributes from its 53,000 square foot Boynton Beach, Florida facility since 2012. The RT4B platform on which BDR1932 was built was Backdraft’s contemporary performance model in 2019. For current Backdraft model offerings, see the Backdraft Racing overview. For broader context on the Cobra replica market, see the Cobra Authority buyer’s guide. For another Backdraft build covered on the site, see BDR1624, a 2017 RT3.
