About this build

The Prestige 427 with eight-stack fuel injection is a configuration that appears on Superformance MKIII builds where the buyer wants 1960s induction styling with current EFI behavior. Eight individual throttle bodies sit above the intake in the arrangement of period Weber 48 IDA induction setups, but with electronic fuel injection feeding each runner under closed-loop control. The setup keeps the visual character of the period 427 induction while bypassing the cold-start and seasonal-tuning behavior of mechanical carbs. Paired with the Tremec TKX five-speed, SP03873’s drivetrain pairs vintage induction styling with current driveability.

SP03048, another Superformance MKIII Cobra, took the same chassis platform with a Ford Coyote 5.0L V8 instead of the 427 used here. The variation between two MKIII builds reflects how Superformance‘s turn-key-minus-drivetrain model lands in different buyers’ hands.

Manufacturer context

Superformance is the only Cobra replica manufacturer licensed by Carroll Shelby Licensing, Inc. Cars are built at the Hi-Tech Automotive factory in South Africa as turn-key minus drivetrain, then shipped to dealers and customers who specify the engine and transmission. The MKIII is Superformance’s 427-platform model. SP03873 follows the standard sequence: a Superformance-supplied chassis and body, finished in Lightning Blue at build time, drivetrained with a Prestige 427 EFI build, and brought to market through an East Coast dealer.
